Whatever!

Since the last time I blasted a series of TV commercials was so popular with you, I can't help but poke fun at another everyday product with some of the dumbest ads around.

You may remember a few months back when I chastised the boneheads that created a non-stop string of lame yogurt commercials. This time, I'm taking-on the folks who try to sell us toothpaste.

Like yogurt, this is one of those things that pretty much sells itself. If you don't have a tube of toothpaste in your house, you're just plain dirty and gross.

So, why is it ad execs can't come up with a more creative way of selling teeth cleaning products? Why do they always feature women, who constantly and gratuitously, lick their teeth and make a goofy smile to the camera?

It's just plain weird and certainly doesn't make me want to buy your product or run to the washroom to brush my teeth.

Why don't these people just keep it basic and show those totally disturbing before and after shots you see in the dentist's office? You know, the ones of people with gum disease and rotting teeth.

I'd be more apt to buy toothpaste from a company that shows photos like that with a caption underneath saying “Buy our toothpaste and floss, or this will be your mouth!”

Sure it’s a scare tactic, but at least it’s honest and straight to the point!

While we're on the topic of idiotic commercials, I'm was about to go postal over those damn Grey Power insurance ads featuring a woman in a fit of road-rage honking at people.

That spot was running at least 5-times an hour on several news stations and I was going bonkers every damn time it came on! I guess people started complaining, so they've given us a break. So now, we’ll just have to wait another weekend until the Super Bowl ads come out for something a little more inspiring, and hopefully a lot less irritating.

But Whatever!
