Whatever!

If you thought the education system was bad when you were in school, get a load of this!

Apparently, the province is encouraging teachers to take it easier on high school students. Life is hard for them. I mean, with all the video games they have to play, dates they have to go on and perfect clothes they have to pick-out, who has time to do homework?

There's a new document floating through school boards across the province urging teachers not to dock marks on papers and assignments that are handed in late, and instead grade the quality of the work, not it's timeliness.

And all I got to say to that is are you #$^*@_#&)!* kidding me?

I know there are a lot of teens out there working part-time jobs while they go to school, and I totally understand how stressful it can be to juggle work and school at the same time. Sometimes, you can't help handing stuff in late.

But there are also a lot of kids who do nothing except socialize and loaf around instead of getting their homework done. And it's these kids who are going to suffer the worst from what I think is one of the most insane and irresponsible moves ever made in the education system.

The premise behind it is to make kids who are struggling not feel so defeated when they get an F for not handing in their paper.

Sorry pal, but that's life! Not everything in it is going to make you feel good about yourself and it's challenges like deadlines that make us better and more productive people.

If you can't meet society's minimal standards, then it’s everyone's job to help you along, but that doesn't include getting a free ride.

School is one of the major paths everyone travels on their road through life. Give somebody a good education and in most cases, they'll turn out to be confident people who make positive contributions to our community.

Tell them they can do a half-assed job, get away with it and still graduate? You're not only hurting them, you're hurting the rest of us as well.

But Whatever!
