Some Stuff: July 16, 2009

1969: Apollo 11 was launched from Cape Kennedy, Florida, and would become the first manned space mission to land on the moon.

Oddly enough, the space shuttle Endeavour has now entered orbit after a successful launch at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, yesterday. Canada's Julie Payette and her crewmates will meet fellow Canadian Robert Thirsk, who is already at the space station. Endeavour and its seven astronauts are hauling up a veranda for Japan's enormous lab on the international space station and looking to set a crowd record with 13 people together in space. NASA’s shuttle program ends in 2010 after that they rely on Russia to get everyone into space.

There's an iPhone App for seemingly everything -- and even Pizza Hut has joined the fun. The pizza chain yesterday introduced an app that lets customers order pizza and other good stuff from their iPhones, while also taking advantage of some of the fun features of the device itself.

Since the introduction of iPhone more than 1.5 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple's App Store.
